Tec Inc. provided engineering service to complete the renovation 1st, 2nd and 3rd floor existing laboratories from the 1970’s. The labs were updated to meet modern research methods and emergency systems. The renovations have taken place in phases over a period of more than four years.
The electrical engineering included power upgrades, new lighting throughout, design of the CaseNet IT systems with wireless access and new emergency backups that include power to -80°C freezers and incubators.
The mechanical and plumbing systems include improved HVAC, new ventilation hoods, piping for supply and sanitation, natural gas, compressed air, vacuum, deionized water, and nitrogen. A portion of the Microbiology Lab is designed as a Level 3 Biohazard Laboratory.
The variety of laboratory spaces included the Anesthesia Lab, Pharmacology, Microbiology and the Center for Mitochondrial Disease.
