Dublin Methodist Hospital
Dublin, Ohio
Lighting Design services for this new construction project included interior lighting design, specification and construction administration for this 300,000 square foot facility. The Hospital includes: 94 private patient rooms, a full service emergency department, women’s health services, as well as outpatient and inpatient surgical services. This project is a Pebble Project research effort with the Center for Health and Design and incorporated day-lighting into many of the spaces in an attempt to bring views of nature into the healing environment.
The lighting design also focused on creating a flow within the building to help identify paths of travel and then create small breaks within that path to allow for a sense of release. The lighting was layered within the space and controlled separately to allow for the natural shift in circadian rhythms.
The lighting design included: Patient, LDR, and Exam Rooms; Nursing Stations; Patient and Nursing Corridors; Main Atrium; ER Atrium; Waiting areas; Retail; Cafeteria and Dining; and Conference space. Integration of day-lighting systems and design for interior courtyard illumination was also included.
