Kent State University Sculpture Studio
Kent, Ohio
Kent State University converted an existing heating plant into a sculpture studio for use by the art department. Tec Inc. completed the electrical engineering and lighting design services for the new facility.
The first floor was divided into areas for a metal studio, wood studio, ceramics facilities, tool storage, and mechanical & electrical utility rooms. Provisions have been made for outdoor work areas. The second, third and fourth floors include: multiple project studios, a wax room, faculty studios and the critique studio, additional studio space and a mixing room.
The third floor Critique Room is illuminated with track lighting to provide a gallery atmosphere and allows for flexibility of the lighting.
