The Andrews School
Willoughby, Ohio

Tec Inc. has been providing a engineering services for a variety of projects on campus for over ten years. Our engineering services have ranged from electrical rewiring of dormitory buildings, to providing air conditioning design for Hobart and Hanscom Dorms. We have completed site, landscape and signage lighting on campus, as well as investigated infrastructure issues within the tunnels. Tec Inc. has collected a wealth of knowledge relative to the mechanical, electrical, lighting and technology infrastructure and systems at The Andrews School campus.

The new equestrian center engineering design included classrooms, stables, arena and various support areas. Our services included heating and ventilating for the stables, arena, and support areas, as well as designing air conditioning for the classrooms, offices and spectators lounge. Plumbing services included the design for drainage of the horse stalls, and automatic watering stations within the stalls, as well as horse washing, and equipment cleaning facilities. Provisions in the plumbing design allowed for the addition of a dust control watering system within the show arena. The spectator lounge has provisions for food service preparation and serving. Electrical design included new service for the equestrian complex. General illumination for grooming and inspection was provided within the horse stalls and aisles utilizing wet location low temperature fluorescent fixtures. The show arena was illuminated utilizing sealed self-cleaning metal halide fixtures, providing uniform illumination levels throughout the full range of equestrian events. A matching design was provided to relight the practice arena for consistency.

Our services included HVAC design for the new gymnasium, exercise rooms and support areas, as well as upgrading the HVAC for the existing auxiliary gymnasium that was retained. New plumbing for the showers and locker rooms was designed; this included new domestic water heaters, piping and sewers within the building. The electrical service capacity was increased to accommodate the new field house building, as well as maintain the Administration Building in service. Lighting, power and technology was provided for the gymnasiums, exercise and support areas. Energy efficient metal halide illumination provides excellent color rendition, and appropriate illumination levels for competitive scholastic athletics.

Improvements to the campus fire alarm system included approximately eight buildings on campus: the Administration Building, Infirmary, Margaret St. John building, Library, Laundry, Maintenance Buildings and several dormitories were included among the improvements. This work provided new manual stations, audible visual alarms, smoke detectors, exterior building alarms, and remote alarm annunciation. A new main fire alarm control panel for the campus was installed at the Administration Building.
